Costa Rican summer sunsets at Santa Teresa are spectacular.
  1. Sunset Watching

Santa Teresa Beach offers its spectators the most amazing sunsets that set the sky ablaze with oranges and reds and purples.  This is a community affair and every afternoon, the beach fills with people waiting to be a witness of this natural phenomenon that never ceases to amaze you.

Remember that in Costa Rica, because it is so close to the Equator, our beautiful sunsets begin around 5:30 pm and extend to about 6:00 – 6:15 pm. Costa Rica doesn`t have daylight savings so no need to set your watches as sunset is about the same time every day all year round.

Sunset watching is a great time to pick up a coffee at Kavita Restaurant or a freshly made cocktail or juice at the bar that is right on the beach during the summer months and pick your spot on the sand to view the colors lighting up over the sky and to the horizon. What a perfect way to finish off a day in the sun and the sand on Santa Teresa beach and you will love it!

  1. Beach Walk or Run

Santa Teresa Beach is a long stretch of broad white sanded beach edged with jungle. You can have a great walk or run in the early morning or late afternoon (just before the great sunset!) to get some fitness time in during your summer vacation.  The rest of the day, the beach is for relaxing under a palm tree and having frequent dips in the sea to refresh from sun-worshipping.

Having a walk along the beach is perfect to catch the early morning surfers and other walkers and runners as they enjoy Santa Teresa beach.  People are friendly and diverse so a walk will be full of visual effects to keep you entertained.  The beach is as alive as the town so enjoy your morning or afternoon walk along this beautiful beach during your summer.

The huge tidepool is protected from waves by volcanic rocky reef and only appears at low tide.
  1. Tidepool bathing

Santa Teresa beach has some rocky formations which during low tide are the perfect places to have a swim and do some snorkeling.  It is lots of fun to see little fish and crustaceans that remain in the tidepool under the high tide returns to take them out to sea again.

This is a great time to put on some snorkeling gear and explore the rocks underwater to spot lots of marine life and enjoy the rock formations with the shimmering sun above.

These naturally made pools are also just perfect to lay back in the water and relax too under the warm, summer sun too.  Move with the tide and immerse yourself in the tranquility of the moment.
