Snowbirds have long been flocking down to tropical Costa Rica to spend their winters, and it might be just the thing for you.  Not just because you’re tired of shoveling snow off your driveway every morning, but because the political climate has you down.  Turn off the news and book a flight to Costa Rica and warm your body and soul.

The country has something for everyone, two coasts, volcanoes, national parks protecting its biodiversity and more.  In Costa Rica, you can be as adventurous as you like or as relaxed as you like.  Raft on the Reventazon River, paddle board on Santa Teresa beach, hike up the trails at Poas Volcano or sit on a rocking chair on your porch and let nature come to you! Check out specialized tours here.

You can either stay in one place during your visit and have a basecamp from which to do one day tours and excursions, or explore the country and stay a few days in each destination.  It all depends of what you like to do, and how much time you have.  The Pacific coast of Costa Rica offers beaches and protected areas, you can land at Liberia airport and explore the Northern Pacific province of Guanacaste, as well as go inland and visit Arenal Volcano or Rincon de la Vieja Volcano.  If arriving at San Jose airport, you explore Central and Southern pacific coasts, and go whale-watching in the Uvita/Dominical area, and explore the Golfo Dulce further south, probably the most pristine area in the country.  The lively Caribbean coast offers unique dining experiences, reggae music and volcanic beaches.  Check out where to stay here.

If the political rhetoric overload on both sides of the divide has left you yearning for more, turn off social media and head to Costa Rica for a few days or weeks.  The Pura Vida laid back attitude is sure to reset your spirit and will having you coming back again and again.
