Adventure
Suspension bridges: These bridges were originally built by scientists to be able to observe and study the canopies of the cloud forests. The orchids, ferns and moss, lifeform stacked upon lifeform, creating the lush life of the forest. They have since evolved into tourist attractions where guests can walk through them during the day, do night walks to observe different fauna, climb trees, and combine them with canopy tours. Sky Walk and Selvatura Treetop Walkways are a couple of options.
Canopies: Canopy tours in the area include Monteverde Extremo, the Original Canopy Tour, Selvatura and Sky Adventures. El Establo Mountain Hotel offers their Tree Top canopy tour right inside their property, where the 360-degree view from their 150-foot tower is breathtaking. It includes 16 cables, two rope bridges, one loose rope and a Tarzan Swing (don’t ask, just click here and watch a video posted by one of our guests).
Hiking: Explore the protected areas of Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve and Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve and learn about the area that houses 2.5% of the world’s biodiversity. Put on your hiking shoes, bring a water bottle and a snack, and bring a camera. A trained guide can assist in the identification of local flora and fauna.
Relaxation
